Profile Student Vice-Presidency

The Student Vice-Presidency forms the communication channel between the Presidential Board of the University and the student self-administration. This means that the student body is involved in all involved in all key decisions of the university. This requires a permanent presence in the highest academic and student bodies (i.e. the Presidential Board meeting, the Faculty Board meeting, the Senate, the Student Council and the Student Parliament), Senate, Student Council and Student Parliament) of the University. Applicants must be fluent in German and have at least a good command of English. Other languages are desirable. We are primarily looking for students who are present. Tasks and main topics include

  • Communication link between the student self-administration committees and the university's Executive Board
  • Regular and active participation in meetings and discussions in the University Executive Board, the academic committees and the student self-administration
  • Communicating new developments between the student self-administration and the university committees
  • Contributing student perspectives to the university's Executive Board
  • Participation and student insight in decisions on university development, evaluation of teaching & research, study and examination regulations
  • Diplomatic understanding and the cultivation of a healthy and dignified culture of discussion
  • Assertiveness and sovereignty in representing the entire student body and its interests in all their diversity

We are looking for

Committed, team-oriented and open-minded students who want to think outside the box of a normal student and want to help shape the university in the interests of the students. Due to the fluent German and good English skills, applicants must be able to communicate excellently with the Chancellor, President, Vice-Presidents and the various committees. An open and respectful interaction is the order of the day in these discussions, Applicants should be able to use appropriate language. Furthermore basic knowledge of the structure of academic and student self-administration is expected. Application procedure

BTU students can apply for the position of student vice president until Wednesday, February 19, 2025. The application documents should be sent to < praesidium@stupa-btu.de >. It is also possible to hand in the documents in person at the Student Council office. Written applications must be submitted by Wednesday, February 19, 2025 at 6 pm.

The candidacy must include:

  1. Full name of the student
  2. course of study of the student(s)
  3. telephone number and/or e-mail address of the student
  4. student certificate
  5. curriculum vitae
  6. letter of motivation
  7. list and explanation of committee experience (if available)

CV, letter of motivation and explanation of committee experience will be shared with the members of the student parliament and the student council. On Friday, February 21, 2025, the candidacies will be announced to the university public. The candidates will be heard at the meeting of the student parliament on Tuesday 04.03.2025 from 18:30 and a decision will be made on their suitability. All parliamentarians who are members of parliament at the beginning of the meeting are entitled to vote. The result will be determined during the meeting. Voting is based on the principle of personal choice and is published in the minutes of the meeting. The voting is based on the procedure decided in the 13th ordinary session of the student parliament.
